David Kemp - Lay Elder E-mail

mgsh-dkemp.jpgDDavid Kemp is a native of Savannah, Georgia. Growing up, he attended Calvary Baptist Temple and Calvary Baptist School where he graduated in 1977. He received a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1982 and a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1983, also from Georgia Tech. He received a   Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina in 1989.  David worked in the truck trailer industry with Great Dane Trailers from 1983-1991 until he and his family moved to Woodstock. From 1991 until 2000, he worked as Vice President of Engineering for Dorsey Trailers, and then in October of 2000, he began his own company, Kemp Group, Inc.

After an extensive study of the Scriptures concerning church leadership, David came to the conviction that the local church should be led by a plurality of Godly men (i.e. elders), which greatly influenced he and his   family in 1996 to consider being a part of a church plant in Woodstock, Georgia that would be elder led.  To his surprise but also to his delight, this work of God in David’s life resulted in David becoming one of the two   founding elders of Faith Community Church. For the past 20 years, David has faithfully taught adult Bible studies in the churches he and his family have attended. His passion for the Word of God and diligent study is evident as he continues to teach verse by verse in the adult Bible study each week at Faith Community. David encourages people to study the Word of God for themselves and to know the Truth so that they might be able to “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.”

David and his wife, Sherree, have been married for twenty-five years, and they have five daughters:  Rebekah, Deborah, Leah, Hannah, and Moriah
