Quality, affordable education for kids in the church & community. Registration for 2026-2027 classes starts in June 2026

We currently offer group classes in strings (violin, viola, & cello) and Early Childhood (preschool) music. Classes follow the academic calendar (August-May), and enrollment takes place each summer for the upcoming school year.

Our classes take place on Thursday and Friday mornings, so are primarily designed for homeschool students.

Schedule

Early Childhood Family Music: 12 weeks at a time. Next round of classes starts in August, 2026.

Group Strings: Meets for the whole school year, August-May with breaks for holidays. New classes begin August 2026.

Early Childhood Family Music

(9:30-10:15 a.m.) (12 weeks)

Early childhood family music and movement class age 18 mos. (walking age) – 5 yrs: This class will use the well respected Musikgarten curriculum to teach young children to love music making. Music is a gift from the Lord that is intended to glorify Him and draw our hearts to love Him. The most important time to teach people to love music is the early years of childhood. There are so many benefits to music training for young children including:

  • symbolic thinking
  • concentration

  • memory

  • appropriate expression of thoughts and feelings

  • group participation

  • motor skills

  • impulse control

Parents and young children will enjoy the natural bond that comes from making music together!

Cost:
1st child:
$120 tuition fee + $50 curriculum fee

2nd child in the same family:
$100 tuition fee (no curriculum fee)

3rd child in the same family:
$80 tuition fee (no curriculum fee)

Group Strings (Levels 1-4)

(Ages 6-17) Students will learn to play violin, viola, or cello in a group setting. Classes range from beginner (Level 1) to advanced (Level 4). Students can audition directly into a class level or start at the beginning and advance through each level. Auditions take place in the summer before classes start, and

*ABOUT CLASS LEVELS: To qualify for strings class 2 (if class 1 isn’t completed), or to advance to class 3 or class 4, students will need to take and pass an informal audition with specific requirements (on Friday, August 9). We will send those requirements out to students after registration (or before, by request), and we’ll set up a time with parents and students when auditions will take place. If you are registering your child in the same level as last year, audition is not required. Please register your child for the class you think will best fit their abilities. Some adjustments may need to be made to class levels after registration & auditions.

COST: $325 per student for the whole school year. (This doesn’t include the cost of purchasing/renting an instrument, music stand, curriculum book, etc. We will send you info regarding that after registration).

  • 2 Payment Options: You can pay the total amount at registration, or split it in half and pay the second half at the start of the second semester.
  • Payment Type: online payments only by credit card or Electronic Funds Transfer/ACH Transfer. We can also accept checks if online payments aren’t working.

  • Strings 1st Semester: Thursday & Friday, August 13-14, 2026 through December 3-4, 2026
    • No class Sept. 24-25, 2026 (Fall Break)
    • No class Nov. 26-27, 2026 (Thanksgiving)
    • Christmas Concert on Friday, Dec. 4, 2026 at 7:00 PM
  • Strings 2nd Semester: Thursday & Friday, January 7-8, 2027 through Friday, May 6-7, 2027
    • No class on April 8-9, 2027 Spring Break
    • Spring Concert on Friday, May 7, 2027 at 7:00 PM

 

Our Teachers

Colleen Lively

Full-time music teacher, graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a B.S. in music education. Suzuki certified, teaching since 1984, including public schools, Christian schools, and 2 music conservatories in TN, MS, IL, ND, and GA. Member of various orchestras and ensembles.

Anna McCoy

Full-time music teacher, alumni of Colburn Community School of Performing Arts, member of various professional and community symphonies and orchestras.

Kara McCoy

Professional violinist, violist and music teacher for over 13 years. Performs regularly in orchestras, bluegrass bands, and does professional studio recording. Studied at the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, CA.

WHO

FMA is for students ages 1 – 17 years old. Parents are required to stay with their children in all classes except strings 4.

WHEN

Classes meet Thursdays & Fridays between 9:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Classes will follow the school calendar.
